Chair Recruitment

NHS England has a specific role in appointing and supporting NHS trust chairs and non-executives. We are looking for an exceptional leader to chair North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS). This is an unique opportunity to help shape the future of local services by sharing your talents and expertise to help transform the hospital and make a positive difference to your community.

Hello. We are NWAS.

Dear candidate

Dear candidate

Thank you for your interest in these fantastic opportunities to join the team at North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust. I hope that you will enjoy finding out more about our organisation and these critical roles.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport. We are the largest integrated ambulance service in the UK, with over 8000 staff and volunteers. We serve a population of more than 7.5 million people across the North West. Each year we receive approximately 1.4 million 999 calls, respond to over 1 million emergency incidents and make more than 1 million patient transport journeys and deliver the regional NHS 111 service across the region for people. We are proud to be rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and Ofsted.

Ambulance services and the NHS system have been a huge focus of the media for the last year, as we continued to face huge demand on our services and a scale of industrial action not seen by the service in over three decades. Despite this we have continued to move forward with improvements, and we have led regional and national efforts to improve urgent and emergency care. As you will see in our Strategy, our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to making this trust a great place to work, through looking after our staff, creating a safe working environment, investing in their development, and leading with compassion.

We welcome values-based leaders who will give their all to provide quality care now and in the future. Those who can lead teams to get the best outcome.

And those who show compassion and strength in some of the most challenging and emotional situations. We recognise strength in diversity and strive to create an inclusive culture, releasing the potential from our workforce whatever their background and experience.

I hope you are inspired by our vision and values and that you want to find out more about these opportunities. I encourage you to read further on this site and contact Will McAlpine, Emily Smith or Emma Pickup on 07554050236 for a discussion about your interest.

I look forward to meeting you during the process.
