Welcome
Dear candidate
Thank you for your interest and choosing to find out more about this exciting opportunity to join the team at North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust as our new Chair. I hope that you will enjoy finding out more about our organisation and this critical role.
North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport. We are the largest integrated ambulance service in the UK, with over 8000 staff and volunteers. We serve a population of more than 7.5 million people across the North West. Each year we receive approximately 1.4 million 999 calls, respond to just under 1 million emergency incidents and make more than 1.4 million patient transport journeys and deliver the regional NHS 111 service across the region for people. We are proud to be rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and Ofsted.
Ambulance services and the NHS system have been a huge focus of the media for the last year, as we continued to face huge demand on our services and a scale of industrial action not seen by the service in over three decades. Despite this we have continued to move forward with improvements, and we have led regional and national efforts to improve urgent and emergency care.
As we move forward, we are approaching a pivotal moment in our journey. After six successful years, our Chair, Peter White, will be stepping down in March 2025. We are now seeking to appoint a new Chair to guide our Board during this critical period. The incoming Chair will play a crucial leadership role, balancing local priorities with the demands of regional service delivery across diverse communities and will be leading the organisation into an important new era for the NHS, with many opportunities to restore trust and confidence. Our new Chair must be someone prepared and able to support our colleagues as they help us to deliver excellence and shape the future of emergency services provision for the communities in which we serve.
We are looking for a values-driven leader who embodies compassion and resilience, someone capable of guiding our colleagues as we strive for excellence and shape the future of emergency services in the North West. This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact across our region, driving innovation and integration that will influence both the regional and national landscape.
We recognise strength in diversity and strive to create an inclusive culture, releasing the potential from our workforce whatever their background and experience.
I hope you are inspired by our vision and values and that you want to find out more about this opportunity. Thank you for your interest in this role and we look forward to meeting you during the process.
